The dual nature of Verucchio
Visit Rimini
Centre of the Villanovan civilisation and cradle of the Malatesta family: two stories that alternate wrapped in the scenic beauty of the Marecchia River Valley.
We enter the most ancient heart of Verucchio, beginning our visit at the Archaeological Museum. Here history comes to life: extraordinary artefacts, ancient evidence of the Villanovan civilisation and the famous wooden throne, a unique object that recounts the rites, power and daily life of over three thousand years ago.
You leave the museum to immerse yourself in the soul of the village, walking through the alleys of Verucchio. Every step opens up glimpses suspended in time, with views of the Marecchia Valley and the Adriatic coast, and medieval atmospheres still perfectly intact. It is a journey of stories, legends and traditions that still live on among these stones.
The route culminates at the Rocca Malatestiana in Verucchio, an imposing fortress and symbol of the power of the Malatesta family. From here your gaze wanders over the valley as you relive the story of Malatesta da Verucchio, the legendary Mastin Vecchio mentioned by Dante. And in this unique setting one stops to share a moment of authentic taste, with the tasting of typical local products told directly by local producers.
